The study provides a major reassessment of the scale and scope of China’s resurgence over the past half century, employing quantitative measurement techniques which are standard practice in OECD countries. It uses a comparative approach to explain why China’s role in the world economy has changed so dramatically in the last thousand years. It concludes that China is likely to resume its natural role as the world’s largest economy by the year 2015, thus regaining the position it had held until 1890. A dynamic link (StatLink) is provided for each table and graph, which directs the user to a web page where the corresponding data are available in Excel® format. Except for Appendix A, this edition has been revised and updated and Chapter 4 is completely new.

Angus Maddison is Emeritus Professor of Economic Growth and Development at the University of Groningen. He held a number of senior posts at OEEC and OECD between 1953 and 1978, and has been a policy advisor to governments in Brazil, Ghana, Greece, Mexico and Pakistan. He is the author of 20 books on the long run performance of nations, and their interactions within the world economy. He has built up an international network of scholars working in this field. He is a fellow of the British Academy, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Science, and an honorary fellow of Selwyn College, Cambridge.

The International Producer Price Index Manual (PPI Manual) published by the IMF in 2004, constituted a landmark for international standards on price measurement and contains detailed, comprehensive information for the compilation of producer price indices. This Methodological Guide for Developing Producer Price Indices for Services is a complement to the PPI Manual in two ways: it focuses on service-specific aspects in the PPI compilation by developing further the conceptual framework and it adds detailed descriptions of PPI measurement for a series of service industries. This Guide has been jointly produced by the OECD, Eurostat and the members of a Taskforce with delegates from 19 OECD/EU Member countries.

L’édition 2006 des Comptes nationaux des pays de l’OCDE : Volume IV, Comptes des administrations publiques est une publication annuelle de l’OCDE, consacrée aux finances publiques et basée sur le Système de Comptabilité Nationale 1993 (SCN 1993). La publication comprend des tableaux avec les agrégats et les soldes des administrations publiques pour les comptes de production, de revenu et les comptes financiers. Elle comprend également les recettes détaillées d’impôts et de cotisations sociales ainsi que la ventilation des dépenses des administrations publiques par fonction, selon la classification harmonisée au niveau international CFAP. Ces comptes détaillés sont disponibles pour le secteur des administrations publiques avec, dans la mesure du possible, le détail par sous-secteur : administration centrale, administration d’états fédérés, administrations locales, administrations de sécurité sociale. La publication couvre 29 des 30 pays de l’OCDE. Les données sont présentés en monnaie nationale et couvrent les années 1994 à 2005.
L'édition 2006 des Comptes nationaux des pays de l'OCDE : principaux agrégats, Volume I couvre le PIB suivant les trois optiques (dépenses, production et revenus), le revenu disponible, l'épargne et la capacité/besoin de financement, la population et l'emploi. Il comprend aussi des tableaux comparatifs basés sur les taux de change et des tableaux comparatifs basés sur les parités de pouvoir d'achat. Les données sont montrées pour 30 pays de l'OCDE et la Zone euro depuis 1993 dans la plupart des cas, exprimées en monnaie nationale (en euros pour les pays de la zone euro), mais aussi en dollars des États-Unis pour le produit intérieur brut et la consommation individuelle effective depuis 1982. Ces statistiques sont basées sur le Système de Comptabilité Nationale 1993 (SCN 1993) pour tous les pays, à l'exception de la Turquie toujours présentée sur la base du SCN 1968.

Il comprend une ventilation détaillée par genre d'activité de la valeur ajoutée brute (prix courants et prix constants, année de référence 2000), des composantes de la valeur ajoutée, de la formation brute de capital fixe et de l'emploi. Il inclut aussi les dépenses de consommation finale des ménages par fonction et les comptes simplifiés des trois principaux secteurs (administrations publiques, sociétés et ménages).
