Après un tassement de la croissance économique de 1999 à 2000, et une croissance tirée par les investissements pétroliers durant les années 1999-2003, l’économie tchadienne vit désormais à l’ère du pétrole. L’année 2004 a enregistré une croissance accélérée du PIB, dont le taux est passé de 11.3 pour cent en 2003 à 31 pour cent, en raison de l’accroissement de la production pétrolière depuis la mise en exploitation du bassin de Doba, en juillet 2003.
