For over 25 years, the OECD and Southeast Asia have engaged in policy dialogues in a range of areas including investment, taxation education and innovation. These partnerships served as the foundation for the OECD's 2024 decision to open accession discussions with Indonesia and Thailand, the two biggest economies in the region.
The 2025 OECD Southeast Asia Regional Forum, taking place on 2 May 2025, will explore ways the OECD and Southeast Asia can work even more closely together, both through leveraging the accession process and through tailored global relations approaches that can be taken up by the whole region.
The event, including opening remarks from OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann and Thailand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sangiampongsa, and a session on OECD membership with Indonesia and Thailand, will be livestreamed here.
The latest OECD analyses on some topics for Southeast Asia are available:
- Financing Sustainable Cities in Southeast Asia: Diversifying Instruments and Leveraging Private investment
- Regulatory Reform in Thailand: Reinforcing an Effective Regulatory Environment
Some upcoming reports for the region include:
- OECD Peer Reviews of Competition Law and Policy: Thailand (2 May)
- Promoting Active Ageing in Southeast Asia (7 May)
- Start-up Asia: Chasing the Innovation Frontier (21 May)
