Reducing poverty and hunger by accelerating sustainable and inclusive development

The world’s least developed countries (LDCs) are the poorest and weakest members of the global community. These countries are the most vulnerable socially, economically, politically, and ecologically. Approximately 300 million people live in Asia-Pacific’s 15 LDCs. This represents nearly a quarter of the total population of the world’s low-income countries. Moreover, challenges here are only becoming more pressing, as the region’s share of the global population is rising, making it even more difficult to reduce poverty and hunger.
