Roadmap for the Transition from Analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television

The process of transition from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting offered clear advantages to spectrum efficiency and higher video and audio quality as well as the opportunity to allocate part of the broadcasting band to international mobile telecommunication (IMT) services and other applications. To support countries facing the challenges of a smooth transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, ITU developed this roadmap designed to assist each country reap the full benefits of spectrum efficiency from terrestrial TV and mobile TV to sound broadcasting. The program is described in a series of country reports on the digital switch-over (DSO) policy.
