Major exporting and importing countries/regions: current situation and outlook

The United States is the world’s largest producer and exporter of oilseeds. The country has harvested 18.5% of the global output over the last five seasons (79.5 million tons a year) and provided 49.6% of world exports (25 million tons yearly). Its crushing industry is also the world’s biggest, processing 47.7 million tons of oilseeds annually between 1996 and 2000, equivalent to a fifth of global crushing.
