According to “How people use the Internet”, a study conducted by Statistical Research Incorporated (www.sricrm.com) in February 2000, as many as 85% of Internet users find sites through search engines. With more than 4,000 sites being added each day, it is important for any enterprise selling or marketing its products on the Internet to make sure that these products are listed with the search engines that its prospective customers are likely to use. Getting your website ready for search engines (called ‘optimization’), submitting it and tracking the ranking results is part of the overall marketing plan.
