Test No. 211: Daphnia magna Reproduction Test
The test method described in this Test Guideline assesses the effect of chemicals on the reproductive output of Daphnia magna Straus. To this end, young female Daphnia are exposed to the test substance added to water at a range of concentrations (at ... |

Test No. 210: Fish, Early-life Stage Toxicity Test
The test method described in this Test Guideline, is intended to define the lethal and sub-lethal effects of chemicals on the early life stages of the species tested. The early-life stages of fish are exposed to five concentrations of the test ... |

Test No. 209: Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test (Carbon and Ammonium Oxidation)
This Test Guideline is designed to assess the effects of a substance on micro-organisms from activated sludge of waste-water treatment plants by measuring their respiration rate (carbon and/or ammonium oxidation) as oxygen consumption. The test ... |

Test No. 208: Terrestrial Plant Test: Seedling Emergence and Seedling Growth Test
This Test Guideline is designed to assess effects on seedling emergence and early growth of higher plants following exposure to the test substance applied to the soil surface or into the soil. Seeds are placed in contact with soil treated with the ... |

Test No. 207: Earthworm, Acute Toxicity Tests
This Test Guideline includes two methods: a paper contact toxicity test and an artificial soil test. The recommended specie is Eisenia foetida (Michaelsen). The initial screening test (filter paper contact test) involves exposing earthworms to test ... |

Test No. 206: Avian Reproduction Test
The purpose of this Test Guideline is to determine the effects on the reproduction of a substance administered with food to birds. Birds are fed a diet containing the test substance in various concentrations for a period of not less than 20 weeks. A ... |

Test No. 203: Fish, Acute Toxicity Test
The fish are exposed to the test substance preferably for a period of 96 hours. Mortalities are recorded at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours and the concentrations which kill 50 per cent of the fish (LC50) are determined where possible. One or more species ... |

Test No. 202: Daphnia sp. Acute Immobilisation Test
This Test Guideline describes an acute toxicity test to assess effects of chemicals towards daphnids (usually Daphnia magna Staus). Young daphnids, aged less than 24 hours at the start of the test, are exposed to the test substance at a range of ... |

Effects on Biotic Systems
The OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals is a collection of about 150 of the most relevant internationally agreed testing methods used by government, industry and independent laboratories to identify and characterise potential hazards of chemicals. They are a set of tools for professionals, used primarily in regulatory safety testing and subsequent chemical and chemical product notification, chemical registration and in chemical evaluation. They can also be used for the selection and ranking of candidate chemicals during the development of new chemicals and products and in toxicology research. This group of tests covers effects on biotic systems.
