The Bilateral Trade in Goods by End-Use (BTiGE) database aims at highlighting international flows of intermediate goods. It is built on UN Comtrade, supplemented with national statistics and OECD Secretariat estimates. Using a correspondence table developed by the OECD, flows of products, reported in different versions of the Harmonized System (the latest being HS-2022), are broken down by activities based upon the Classification of Products by Activity (CPA 2.1) and by end-use categories. This release introduces an extended list of reporters, with data broadly presented for the period 1989-2023, and several changes implemented in the new conversion key.
The database was designed to include balanced trade flows which, combined with national Supply-Use and Input-Output Tables, serve as an input into the OECD’s Inter-Country Input-Output (ICIO) model, the principle source of the OECD's Trade in Value Added (TiVA) indicators.
