LMM(93)26 Computerising the Legal System: the Botswana Experience

The purpose of this Paper is to describe the experience of the Botswana Government in its efforts to computerize the legislative drafting process, the 1987 Revised Laws of Botswana and the Botswana Law Reports. Computers were first installed in the Attorney General's Chambers sometime in 1989 for use by the Drafting Division in order to facilitate the drafting process. Bills and other legislative material were keyed directly into the computers and then copied onto diskettes which were then forwarded to the Government Printer for printing and publishing.
