In 2011, the United Nations continued its work on statistics, mainly through the Statistical Commission and the Statistics Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. In February, the Commission adopted international recommendations for energy statistics—the first recommendations that provided a coherent basis for the production of energy statistics in the context of all economic statistics—and endorsed the main elements of its proposed implementation programme.
