In 1988, the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in nuclear safety and radiation protection increased due to growing interest by its member States. The thirty-second session of the IAEA General Conference (Vienna, 19-23 September) called for measures to strengthen international co-operation in nuclear safety and radiological protection and for sharing safety-related information.
