The OECD National Accounts Statistics database includes annual and quarterly data of a wide range of areas from 1955, such as gross domestic product with its three approaches: expenditure based, output based and income based, disposable income, population and employment, PPPs and exchange rates, general government accounts, financial accounts flows and stocks and central government debt for OECD countries and non-member economies. Data are internationally comparable according to the 1993 System of National Accounts (SNA).

  • Government expenditure by function

    This subset of the general government accounts dataset focuses on the government expenditure by function. Government expenditure by function are presented in terms of function and sector. The economic flows of expenditure are aggregated according to the Classification of the Functions of Government (COFOG). Data are expressed in millions of national currency at current prices and are available from 1950 onwards.

  • Maastricht debt

    This dataset presents statistics on government debt defined by the Maastricht Treaty. In the Protocol on the excessive deficit procedure annexed to the Maastricht Treaty, government debt is defined as the debt of the whole general government sector: gross, consolidated and nominal value (face value). It excludes the other accounts payable (AF.7), as well as, if they exist, insurance technical reserve (AF.6). Data are expressed in millions of national currency at current prices and are available starting from 1950 onwards.

  • Main aggregates

    This dataset comprises statistics on aggregates (production account, generation of income account, allocation of primary income account, secondary distribution of income account, use of disposable income account, capital account) and balances of the general government sector in the SNA 1993 conceptual framework. It also highlights two relevant aggregates that do not belong to this conceptual framework: the Total Revenue and the Total Expenditure of the general government sector. Data are expressed in millions of national currency at current prices and are presented from 1950 onwards.

  • Taxes and social contributions receipts

    This subset for the general government account present the list of taxes and social contributions extracted from the three accounts of the SNA 1993, namely the allocation of primary income accounts (for the taxes on the production and imports, D.2), the secondary distribution income accounts (for the current taxes in income and wealth, D.5, and the social contributions, D.61) and the capital accounts (for the capital taxes, D.91). Data are expressed in national currency, current prices, millions and are available starting from 1950.

  • Public finance and employment: expenditures

    This dataset is an adaptation of regular Classification of the Functions of Government (COFOG), which aims to provide additional information that is particularly important for gaining comparative insight into the structure of public expenditures. It is possible to characterize the structure of public finances in OECD countries according to the different types of welfare state.

  • Public finance and employment: revenues

    This dataset is broken down by type of revenues and sectors. Revenues encompass social contributions (e.g. contributions for pensions, health and social security), taxes other than social contributions (e.g. taxes on consumption, income, wealth, property and capital), and grants and other revenues. Data are based on the System of National of Accounts (SNA).
