The over-arching objectives for the Nordic co-operation are stable and sustainable economic growth; development of the Nordic welfare model; economic integration in the Nordic region, the Baltic Sea region and Europe; and the promotion of joint Nordic interests at international level. The Nordic economies are among the countries in the Western World with the best macroeconomic performance in recent years. In most of the Nordic countries, the gross domestic product (GDP) has increased noticeably during the recent years.
