National Accounts Statistics: Main Aggregates and Detailed Tables contains a complete and consistent set of time series from 1970 onwards of main national accounts aggregates for more than 200 countries and areas in the world. It is maintained and updated on the basis of annual collections of the official annual national accounts statistics supplemented by United Nations Statistics Division estimates of national accounts statistics for those years and countries for which the official statistics is incomplete or inconsistent. In addition to the values of national accounts statistics, it contains analytical indicators and ratios derived from the main national accounts aggregates related to economic structure and development.

The National Accounts Statistics: Analysis of Main Aggregates, 2013 is the forty-third issue of this publication which comprises in the form of analytical tables a summary of the principal national accounting aggregates based on official national accounts data for more than 200 countries and areas, covering 1970-2013. It also contains a section on the estimation methods used for compiling data. It is prepared by the Statistics Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations in cooperation with national statistical offices. Tables include analysis of data on gross domestic product (GDP) by different structural components. They are classified into: 1) analysis of the level of total and per capita GDP; 2) analysis of the percentage shares of GDP by type of expenditure and gross value added by kind of economic activity; 3) analysis of economic development expressed in terms of real growth of GDP and its components by type of expenditure and gross value added by kind of economic activity, and 4) analysis of price development reflected by implicit price deflators of GDP.

  • Introduction
    This is the forty-fourth issue of National Accounts Statistics: Analysis of Main Aggregates presenting a series of analytical national accounts tables for more than 200 countries and areas of the world. Like the previous issues, it has been prepared by the Statistics Division of the Department for Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat with the generous co-operation of national statistical offices. It is issued in accordance with the recommendation of the Statistical Commission at its first session that the Statistics Division should publish regularly the most recent available data on national accounts for as many countries and areas as possible.

    This section outlines the methodology employed to obtain a complete data series for each country, as well as for computing growth rates, indices and the economic and regional aggregates.
