    The short-term changes and long-term trends in OECD countries’ agricultural support  re described in this section. The latest data provide preliminary estimates of 2005 support  hat are compared against the previous year to provide a short-term assessment.  ong-term trends in agricultural policy are best evaluated by comparing the 2003-05  nd 1986-88 periods (Box 1.1).

    This part of the report provides detailed information on the recent and long-term  evelopments of the level, composition and variability of support to agriculture in  ach OECD country. It provides a concise, consistent snapshot of support to  griculture in OECD member countries and the European Union as a whole.
