      This comparative table comprises complementary statistics to the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook focusing on the commodity market by providing statistics on commodity balance such as wheat,butter, beef and soybeans. The dataset focuses on the analysis of the exports, imports, ending stocks, production and consumption of those commodities as well as market forecasts. Projections are based on a unique procedure combining information and experience available in Member countries with that of the OECD and FAO Secretariats, with a jointly developed modelling system, based on the OECD’s Aglink model, used to guarantee consistency in the projections. The data is covers the years starting from 1970 extending until 2016.

      The Agricultural Outlook has been prepared as a joint report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The report provides a ten year forward looking assessment of macroeconomic trends and prospects in the major agricultural commodity markets by focusing on variables such as GDP deflator, inflation rate, exchange rate, population rate. The historical macroeconomic data are based on OECD and World Bank sources and data projections are extended until 2016.

    Expand / Collapse Producer and Consumer Support Estimates

    The OECD Agricultural Databases provides a unique collection of policy-relevant agricultural statistics, detailed support estimates for both OECD and transition economies and a detailed framework for quantifying the economics of agriculture.

    • loader image Agricultural support estimates 2014

      This dataset is a complement to the "Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation 2014" publication. It shows estimates of agricultural support for OECD countries as well as some non-member economies. These summary tables, designed specifically to monitor and evaluate the level and composition of agricultural policy support, focus on:

      - Producer Support Estimate (PSE), representing transfers granted to producers individually;

      - General Service Support Estimate (GSSE), representing transfers granted to producers collectively, i.e. services that benefit agriculture but whose initial incidence is not at the level of individual farmers;

      - Consumer Support Estimate (CSE), representing transfers granted to consumers. The CSE is almost always negative because transfers from consumers due to market price support policies outweigh any consumption subsidies from taxpayers that might be granted to consumers.

      - Total Support Estimate (TSE), representing the sum of the three above-mentioned components, adjusted for double-counting given that some market price transfers are accounted for in both the PSE and CSE.

      The value of those transfers are further analyzed by looking at their relative share in agricultural support, in agricultural economy and in the economy as a whole, together with other indicators such as Nominal Assistance Coefficient (NAC) and Nominal Protection Coefficient (NPC).

    Agricultural market access database (AMAD)

    The Agricultural Market Access Database (AMAD) contains a common data set on tariffs, tariff-rate quotas and imports so that researchers, policy makers, and others can analyse the levels of tariff protections in agriculture among WTO members. The development and use of a common data set can assist in improving international transparency of agricultural trade as covered by multilateral rules and disciplines.
